A joint celebration of the Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat release and the life and works of Douglas Adams (Hitchhickers guide to the galaxy, etc). In conjunction with zz9.org
From 12 noon until 3pm the Ubuntu release party will show you how to install and use Ubuntu. There are a wide range of applications to discuss, from web servers, desktop publishing, development environments and tools and multimedia editing (for creating cool videos and podcasts)
Anyone and everyone interested can come and get help with installing and get the most out of Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat).
We will be in the main bar from 12 noon until 3pm. Look for someone with atleast two Asus netbooks in front of them.
From 3pm you can join in with the ZZ9.org party and celebrate all the great ideas and words Douglas Adams has given us. The 42 day party will be in the downstairs function room of the pub, so if you come between 2pm and 3pm, we may be hiding down there.
The ZZ9.org party is part of the worldwide 42 Day celebrations - fortytwoday.com.
It's not part of this event, but you may be interested in the screening of the Hichhickers movie - 10am at the Apollo, Piccadilly - http://www.sci-fi-london.com/news/festival/2010/08/42-day-screening-hitchhikers

Unfortunately the Shooting Star door lock got damaged and the management did a great job getting the lock repaired so quickly (considering how hectic is was down there).
The manager was outside the Shooting Star all the time so they would have informed you what was going on and where we were. After about half an hour of waiting, I took those who turned up early to the nearest pub as they were a little frustrated that we couldn't get in and I sent messages out as to where we were.
We checked back regularly and were in by 1pm, so not sure why you didn't wait around especially as you had come so far.
My apologies you had a bad experience as everyone else had a really great time.
Thank you
John Stevenson.

Who is the party organizer? Please came forward to explain what happened.

Does anybody know what happen today? I've travelled for from far to find Shooting Stars pub doors shut. No ubuntu community members or party organisers where anywhere near to be found! Was so much looking forward to this release party now I am rather desapointed. :(
