As you can see on the recent update to the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AustralianTeam/ContactUs page we have a couple of vacancies in the team. Is there anyone remotely interested in helping out as either a team chairperson or team report writer? I am willing to give training and I'm looking for 2 - 3 people to look after each so that we can cover when someone goes on holidays or is temporarily unavailable.
A quick welcome to the meeting and a chance for everyone to log their attendance with the meeting bot.

There has been some discussion recently about social media, and the Ubuntu-AU team's use of it. After looking into the various existing accounts/groups for Ubuntu-AU, it is time to decide on the direction we would like to take with this. To make things easier to update, I think it would work out best to change our Facebook group to a Facebook page, and create an identi.ca and Twitter account for Ubuntu-AU. We need to decide what action we would like to take with this so we can promote the team successfully through social media in the future.

I think that we should request to be a official LoCo team again but first I think you must have a meeting about it.

Due to being postponed from last meeting I'd like to bring up the status of en-AU translations. Foreseeing the Oneiric cycle Ubuntu Global Jam and what we can do to get more people involved.

http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/ is coming up in September, is it worth starting to contact LUGs to see if we can get involved with them to help organise some events

Jono Bacon recently blogged about the Six Months of Rocking in Ubuntu. Basically, six events that aim to encourage participation in Ubuntu, such as bug squashing, ubuntu development, new user days and IRC Q&A...
What can we do as a LoCo to support these events?
We need more promotion in Australia esp. schools and business. I have a few ideas for ideas.
