Beginning with Ubuntu
An introduction to Linux, using the Ubuntu operating system.
Interested in Linux, but not quite sure where to start? Bring a computer and be ready to learn and be impressed in a supportive and fun environment. In addition to finding out how to use this exciting and FREE operating system, you will be introduced to more advanced areas such as the power of the terminal. Even if you don't have a computer with you, resources including Installation DVDs will be available to take with you to try at home later.
We will talk you through installing Ubuntu on your computer, including partitioning your hard drive. If you are not quite ready to change your operating system, we will also demonstrate how to set up a virtual computer to use Ubuntu without changing your current computer configuration.
Members of the Ubuntu Australian Community will be in attendance, as well as a number of people who have a great deal of experience with Ubuntu. In addition to some short tutorials, there will many people on hand to answer any and all questions you may have.
